Please visit the related news and photos at the CPNAG website and CPNAG's Facebook page, which has posted a lovely photograph album (wall of photos) (Courtesy of Judy Daish). Other news items about the ceremony may be found via related newspapers like the Hackney Citizen and the Hackney Gazette. Judy Daish has asked the webmaster of Harold Pinter's official web site at haroldpinter.org to add photos of the occasion to the home page in due course. So please check it out too.
Matthew Harry Burton (Matahari Films) has posted this video of the ceremony on YouTube. It's called "Harold Pinter Remembered at His Hackney Birthplace." Enjoy!
Actually, although the Blue Plaque states that he was "born" at that location, Harold Pinter was born while his parents lived at a different house in nearby Springhill, Hackney, prior to the family's moving to the 19 Thistlewaite Rd. address, according to Billington's entry for Harold Pinter at the Oxford DNB, which was published in January 2012:
Pinter, Harold (1930–2008), actor, playwright, and director, was born on 10 October 1930 at Tudor House, Newington Green, London, the only child of Hyman (Jack) Pinter (1902–1997), ladies' tailor, and his wife, Frances, née Moskowitz (1904–1992). At the time of his birth his parents lived at 8 Ashtead Road, Springhill, Hackney, but later moved to 19 Thistlewaite Road, where he was brought up. [. . . .] [informational links added; "Tudor House, Newington Green, Highgate, Islington" appears in some birth records of the period (late '20s, '30s)]Further update:
I just posted a separate thread for Billington's Oxford DNB entry, moving a note from this thread to that one. [Updated link in both threads.]
