I am sending out another query to this community to see if I may obtain any further information on rebroadcast of the BBC pinter series from 1992 - or if anyone has information on how to view some of the teleplays shown in that series ("Celebration", "Mountain Language" and others). Living in the U.S. I believe we are at a distinct disadvantage when it comes to obtaining Pinter's work on video. I have done some research on this matter and collecting but I welcome any suggestions.
Do people barter/purchase home-made tapes of the series? (not sure if that's even legal).
For an American it seems that the only solution might be something along these lines (and then having a multi-standard VCR/DVD to be able to play European formats)
I am specifically trying to find video of the following:
The Guilgud/Richardson "No Man's Land"
Pinter acting in any of his own works ("Hothouse" etc.)
I have had success finding:
"The Birthday Party" Friedkin's version from '69 which is available from Amazon (NTSC format)
"The Homecoming" the DVD of the film with Vivian Merchant has been available in the U.S. for about a year
"Betrayal" Irons/Hodge from '82 (no longer in print in video in the U.S. but I ordered a used copy on Amazon)
Any help much appreciated.
